highest cable car to the Kleine Matterhorn, at 12,533 feet, offring a close
look at the famous Matterhorn. 
Zermatt by Glacier Express. Rack rail to the top of Gornergrat for spectacular Alpine views, then walk through town and watch the parade of goats. 
Gornergrat rack railway: ride up the mountain for a stunning look at 29 snow-covered Alpine peaks reaching above 12,000 feet,
Down by train, but instead of riding all the way down this rack railroad we decide to walk part of the way down. And it's a nice hike down Gornergrat.
Locarno Italian-style culture awaits you in Vallemaggia, Binasco, the little village of Magadino by boat across Lake Maggiore, then a short
bus ride to Ascona, a picture-perfect lake village.
Lugano The best of all worlds in this Italian section of Switzerland with efficiency of the Swiss and the romance of Italy: also the hillside village of Gandria.
